In 1914, the Victoria Aristocrats of the Pacific Coast Hockey Association (PCHA) has the league title and NHA Toronto Blue Shirts. Since the Aristocrats never officially presented a challenge, the trustee of the Cup in the series as illegal. But the intention was questionable, in Toronto continued with the success in the Cup sweeps a better five series [24].
A year later, the NHA and PCHA a gentlemen's agreement that this battle for Champions Cup, similar to the World Series Baseball plays, which is between the League of the USA and the National League champions. Under the new proposal, the number of Stanley Cup between East and West each year, with a move to NHA parties played and PCHA rules. [25] The average trustees agreed this new draft, because after the Allan Cup, the higher price for the hockey team admirers in Canada, the trustee had become dependent on both the League strengthening the primacy of the trophy. [26] The PCHA Millionaires from Vancouver, won the "formal" PCHA-NHA Cup finals, three games to zero in one of the five best series [27].
After Portland Rosen, an American from the team, has in the PCHA in 1914, trustees have released a statement that is no longer the trophy for the best team in Canada, but for now the best team in the World. [25] Two years later, the roses were the first team in the USA, which in the final declaration of the Stanley Cup. [26] 1917, the Seattle Metropolitans became the first team in the USA Cup. [28] After this season, Draft dissolved, and the National Hockey League (NHL) has its place [25].
In 1919, the outbreak of the Spanish flu forced the Canadian from Montreal and the Seattle Metropolitans to cancel their series, which mark the first time the Stanley Cup was not awarded. [29] The series was associated with 2-2-1, but the game was never played in Montreal, because the actors Joe Hall, Billy Coutu, Jack McDonald, Edouard Lalonde, and the Director George Kennedy, the flu were hospitalized. Hall died four days after the cancellation of the game, and the series was abandoned. [30]
The format of the final to the Stanley Cup amended 1922 with the creation of the Western Canada Hockey League (WCHL). Three leagues have opted for the FIFA: two Champions League against either side of the right, against the third league title in the series. [31] It took three years by the PCHA and the WCHL later, to the Western Hockey League (WHL) 1924. [32] After winning in the 1924-25 season, the Victoria Cougars became the last team outside the NHL won the Stanley Cup.
